Thank you for shopping with FMA Repairs and FMA Store. We want you to shop with confidence. This policy explains our procedures for returns, exchanges, defective products and refunds for purchases made through our website.

This policy applies to purchases of products from FMA Store and must be read together with our Terms & Conditions. Nothing in this policy excludes or limits any consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under South African law.

1. Statutory Consumer Rights

FMA Repairs and FMA Store comply with applicable South African consumer-protection legislation, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA).

Our store policies do not replace or reduce your rights under these laws.

2. Defective, Unsafe or Non-Compliant Products

Under section 56 of the CPA, consumers may return qualifying goods within six months of delivery if the goods fail to meet the applicable statutory quality, safety or performance requirements.

Where the statutory requirements are met, the consumer is entitled to the applicable remedy, which may include repair, replacement or a refund of the purchase price, as provided by law.

  • Qualifying returns under this provision are handled without penalty and at the supplier's risk and expense.

  • We may inspect and test the product to establish the reported fault.

  • Where a product has been damaged through misuse, unauthorised modification, incorrect installation or other circumstances permitted by law, the statutory remedy may not apply.

Customers are encouraged to notify us promptly when a problem is discovered. However, a failure to report a defect within three days does not automatically remove any rights provided by law.

3. Online Purchases and Change-of-Mind Returns

Under section 44 of ECTA, qualifying online purchases may be cancelled without reason or penalty within seven days after receipt of the goods, subject to the statutory conditions and exceptions.

Where this right applies:

  • The customer must notify us of the cancellation within the applicable period.

  • The customer must return the goods in accordance with the law.

  • The customer may be responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods.

  • Refunds will be processed within the period prescribed by law.

The cooling-off right does not apply to every transaction. Statutory exceptions include certain personalised or specially manufactured goods, goods that cannot be returned by reason of their nature, and other categories specified by law.

For change-of-mind returns outside a statutory cooling-off period, we do not guarantee acceptance. Any voluntary return or exchange will be considered in accordance with the applicable law and the condition of the product.

4. Three-Month Commercial Guarantee

Unless a product listing states otherwise, eligible products may include an additional three-month commercial guarantee commencing on the purchase date shown on the invoice or order confirmation.

This commercial guarantee is separate from, and does not replace, the statutory consumer protections that apply to the product.

The three-month period must not be interpreted as limiting any longer statutory right available to a consumer.

5. Product Condition and Return Requirements

Where the law permits us to apply return-condition requirements, we ask customers to return products with:

  • All supplied components, accessories and packaging, where reasonably available.

  • Proof of purchase, such as an invoice, receipt or order number.

  • A description of the reason for the return and any relevant supporting photographs.

Products returned for change of mind should be unused and in their original condition, subject to any inspection or handling reasonably necessary to assess the product and any applicable statutory rights.

Original packaging or missing accessories will not automatically remove a consumer's statutory rights where the law provides otherwise.

6. Products That May Be Excluded From Voluntary Returns

Subject to statutory rights, voluntary change-of-mind returns may be restricted for:

  • Gift cards and vouchers, subject to applicable law.

  • Products specifically manufactured or personalised for a customer, where a statutory exception applies.

  • Products that have been installed, modified, damaged or used beyond what is permitted under the applicable return right.

  • Clearance or promotional products, where the exclusion is lawful and was properly disclosed.

A product being marked as “final sale” or “non-returnable” does not remove statutory remedies for qualifying defective or non-compliant goods.

7. Apple Replacement Parts and Installation

FMA Store supplies replacement parts and accessories for Apple devices. Customers should check model compatibility carefully before ordering.

Professional installation is recommended for replacement parts.

Where a product is damaged by incorrect installation, mishandling, unauthorised modification or use contrary to supplied instructions, the availability of a return, guarantee or statutory remedy will depend on the facts and applicable law.

A product will not be treated as defective solely because it was installed incorrectly. Equally, an allegation of incorrect installation will not automatically defeat a valid claim where the product itself is defective.

8. Damaged, Incorrect or Missing Deliveries

Please inspect your order after delivery and contact us as soon as reasonably possible if an item arrives damaged, is incorrect or is missing.

Please provide:

  • Your order number.

  • A description of the problem.

  • Photographs of the item and packaging, where applicable.

We will investigate and arrange an appropriate resolution in accordance with the circumstances and applicable law. Reporting a problem promptly helps us investigate courier or fulfilment issues, but does not reduce statutory rights.

9. Return Procedure

To request a return:

  1. Contact us by email or WhatsApp with your order number and the reason for your request.

  2. Wait for our team to provide return instructions.

  3. Package the item securely and return it using the agreed method.

  4. We will inspect the returned item where appropriate and advise you of the outcome.

We aim to respond to return requests promptly. Refunds will be processed within applicable statutory deadlines. Other approved returns will be resolved within a reasonable period.

Please do not send products to us without first contacting our team for return instructions.

10. Return Shipping Costs

For qualifying defective or non-compliant goods under section 56 of the CPA, returns are handled at the supplier's risk and expense as required by law.

For qualifying cancellations under section 44 of ECTA, the customer may be responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods.

For other voluntary returns, responsibility for return shipping will depend on the circumstances and the applicable agreement and law. Where an incorrect item was supplied or a delivery error was made by us, we will work with the customer to resolve the matter fairly.

We recommend using a trackable delivery service and retaining proof of postage.

11. Refunds and Store Credit

Where a refund is legally required, it will be made in accordance with applicable law and the relevant transaction.

We may offer store credit or an exchange where appropriate and agreed with the customer. Store credit will not be imposed as a substitute for a cash refund or other remedy that the law requires.

Any voluntary store credit issued will be subject to the terms communicated when it is issued. Statutory rights remain unaffected.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The revised version and its effective date will be published on this page.

Changes will not retrospectively remove rights that a customer has already acquired under applicable law.
