Apple Broadens Self Service Repair Access to iPad Lineup

Apple has extended its Self Service Repair program to include iPad, owners can perform their own repairs using genuine Apple components. The program includes official repair documentation, authentic replacement parts, diagnostic software and the tools needed to complete the repair. This expansion was announced in May 2025, and with the addition of iPad, Apple's Self Service Repair Store now supports a total of 65 Apple products.
What the Program Includes
Apple provides free, downloadable repair manuals with step-by-step guides covering each supported repair. Customers who don't own the specialised equipment needed for a job can rent a toolkit instead, which Apple ships directly to their home for the duration of the repair. Once the replacement part is installed, Apple Diagnostics — a software-based testing suite — lets users verify that it's functioning correctly.
Which iPad Models are currently covered:
iPad Pro — M4 models
iPad Air — M2 models and later
iPad mini — A17 Pro models
Standard iPad — A16 models
Take note the program's rollout has pointed a gap in coverage, while eligibility is only included for newer chip generations, owners of older iPad models are unfortunately excluded.
